Chocolate and Gianduja cream, Martini and the ritual of the aperitif, great wines and the finest Italian cuisine: in Torino food means pleasure and culture at the same time. Gianduja cream is a delicacy made of cocoa and hazelnuts that has become famous throughout the world thanks to the small “gianduiotti” and the renowned spreadable cream.

Italian complete meal normally consists in appetizers (antipasti) – cold and warm they often are real and proper entrees with meat, salami, stuffed vegetables, vegetable-filled omelettes, vegetable and meat salads – first and second dish and a dessert.

Italian Ice Cream “Gelato
From  “PEPINO”, where you can enjoy a Pinguino, to the modern “GROM”, Torino has an old tradition in ice cream. Among the historical ice cream parlors you cannot miss “Fiorio” along Via Po and “Miretti” in Corso Matteotti to enjoy a “gianduiotto with whipped cream”. Grom has now become a must for his “ice cream the way it used to be” and have its main store just in front of Porta Nuova railway station. While if you are around San Salvario you have to go inside Eurocrem, an old fashioned cafè. New entries also the new ice cream parlors Vasa Vasa of Sicilian traditio, RivaReno, Vanilla and Alberto Marchetti, inventor of the “gelato sandwich”.

TIP: Try the typical Italian habit of apericena – you are charged for a drink but you will be allowed to enjoy a reach buffet of cold and hot appetizers (snacks) – “All you can eat” formula!!
