Visiting the area

Torino is much more than the sum of its monuments: an urban cosmos teeming with ideas and culture, a large part of its appeal lies in its enchanting geographical position at the foot of the western Alpine arch.

Italy’s first capital offers picturesque glimpses in the town center streets and its colonnaded boulevards balanced between Piedmont Baroque and rational Roman planning.

A glance at a map of Torino districts in what you need to understand that the city is laid out according to a very regular grid street plan. This is a leftover from the days when Romans started building a settlement here and this makes Torino relatively easy to get around.

TIP: Torino is probably the most free-water town in the world. You can find public fountains really everywhere, from the center to the suburbs, that provides you free public water. And thanks to the near mountains, Torino public water is really good.
