Health Service
Health Card: is a personal card used by a citizen to go to the doctor, to buy medicines, to get examinations in laboratories or hospital, as well as with the National Health Service.  It also allows citizens to obtain medical services within the European Union Countries.
To get this card you should apply at your local National Health Service, where you can also your family doctor and pediatrician.

Useful numbers : don't you know the telephone number of the Carabinieri or of the "Guardia medica". Then you can look up this list of useful telephone numbers, that includes the numbers of main Torino hospitals.

  Pharmacies
If you need any kind of medicine ranging from aspirin to drugs, including pharmaceutical preparations, you need to find a "Farmacia".
Look around for a big flashing green cross and you will find a Pharmacy.
Unlike your country, you cannot find medicines in supermarkets but in these dedicated shops.
Opening hours from 9.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 3.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

 

TIP: Do you need a medicine after working hours?
Don’t worry, there are some pharmacies open all night long.
